Designing With Saturated Trim For Sherwin Williams

Designing with Saturated Trim

We worked with Sherwin Williams to give a kitchen a distinctive pop of color with bold, saturated cabinets — made possible with new Emerald® Urethane Trim Enamel. We are in downtown Minneapolis, overlooking the Mississippi River for kitchen remodel project. I love to work with blue; I consider it almost a neutral color. I think it’s really regal, classic and can fit in any space.

For this project we used Sherwin Williams Emerald® Urethane Trim Enamel for the island and the cabinets. It has some really appealing qualities to it that can lend professionalism to your design project.

  • Water-based urethane formula
  • Smooth and luxurious
  • Outstanding durability
  • Great for saturated colors
  • Re-coat in as little as 4 hours

A Two Tone Kitchen

In a two tone kitchen we try have what we call a hero color or an anchor color on the base cabinets or the island. A two toned kitchen is where we mix the cabinet colors whether it be wood or painted to provide something a bit more interesting. It tells a more electric story and provides a warm feeling when mixed with wood floors. Our mind set on this project was to give the clients something bold while still staying true to the environment.

With a river view like theirs how do you not incorporate blue?

The backsplash

For the tile, we wanted to choose something that was different but still had a little bit of warmth with just a splash of the blue so we chose glass with some warm tones that brought out the cherry in the floors and then the blue that brought in the royal blue from the island.

With this backlash we wanted to do something with warmer tones and different! The glass tiles bring something totally raw to the kitchen. They have a rough texture and stunning color palette. Depending on what the client’s style is — we like to compliment with the backsplash, whether it be incorporating accent color or incorporating a different texture.

With islands it is all about size & wear and tear. They seem to get the most use. I like to have plenty of electrical, as well as space to with prepare or entertain. I am loving the water fall edge style for islands as it protects the sides of the cabinets and adds a touch of drama.

One last note…

Not shown in the video, but the clients entertain often so we turned an extra closet near the kitchen into a butlers pantry with additional fridge, wine fridge, with white quartz countertops and cabinets in a soft grey. We even put in a custom cabinet in that hold a pull out step stool so they can reach the tall cabinet items.

Hello, I own a small remodel company with 5 employees. I am looking to partner up with a designer for my clients and your clients potentially. We have a five star rating on Home Advisor, an A+ rating with the BBB and specialize in high quality craftsmanship and customer service. Keeping the clients informed and their homes/job sites clean and organized. We do everything from demo to final paint. I have licensed a licensed plumber and electrician that I sub contract to exclusively and I am also licensed and insured. Please let me know if you think we could work together on a project to demonstrate our best of the best craftsmanship, knowledge and customer service.
