How To Dispose of The Year 2020
The countdown to 2021 has been on for several months now but it is officially right around the corner. We compiled a few ways to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021. We all know that the current economic and global health conditions won’t magically be gone on January 1st, but we can take symbolic steps to start anew.
Sage cleansing and affirmations
Sage cleansing your home is a way to remove negative/bad energy, promote healing, and disinfect the air- just what we need after this long year. Dried sage has antimicrobial and antibacterial qualities. It is also known to have the ability to boost your mood. There is also some Science behind it- sage smoke releases ions that change the composition of the air and have been linked to increased positive mood.
The most important area of your home to sage is those that are heavily used. But don’t forget the other spaces as well. Before you start, open up all doors and windows in your home so the negative energy can clear.
Next set your intentions. Light the sage and let it burn for 20 seconds before blowing out the flame. Then, slowly walk around your home, room to room, keeping your intentions in mind. After your sage cleansing, you have created a pure space in your home. Sage spray is also great if you are trying to avoid using smoke. It is a great alternative when traveling. It is important to use high-quality sage. We linked our favorite sage spray and white sage smudge sticks from Etsy.
Have you seen the Home Edit on Netflix? The Home Edit is expert home organizers that help get rid of clutter long term. Go check out their website or watch an episode on Netflix- it will sure get you motivated to declutter your home.
Clutter causes distractions and takes up physical and mental space, so it’s a perfect time to begin a new year by decluttering your home. Decluttering helps improve stress and anxiety and can also miraculously clear up more space in your house. Presto! that corner is suddenly open and bright.
We tend to feel overwhelmed when our space is cluttered and disorganized and the year 2020 compounded this stress. So plan to declutter before the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve. This is a great way to begin a new year and have a fresh start!
