The biophilia hypothesis proposes that most humans have an innate love of nature. We long for it and without connecting with it, our health could suffer. So, biophilic design is an applied solution to appease this desire for nature by integrating natural elements and processes into the built environment. An industrail condo refresh always benefits from biophilic design. Learn more about biophilic design at our article “[Biophilic Design. What is it? Utilizing materials such as wood can instill warmth and organic authenticity, while intricate molding details add architectural interest and depth. The application of paint and texture further diversifies the design potential, enabling color palettes that harmonize or contrast with walls to create depth and drama. By thoughtfully considering and incorporating features into ceiling design, an ordinary space can be transformed into one exuding sophistication and personality. ![photo of a featured ceiling with chandelier in interior design by Tiffany Hanken Design](https://tiffanyhankendesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Featured-Ceilings-1.png) ![Statement lighting in a Condo re-fresh, interior Design](https://tiffanyhankendesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Statement-lighting-in-condo-interior-design.png) Statement ## Lighting Design Statement lighting plays a pivotal role in the interior design of condos, (or a condo re-fresh) where space optimization and aesthetic impact are paramount. In the typically confined environments of condominium residences, lighting choices can dramatically alter perceptions of space and ambience. By incorporating statement lighting fixtures, such as bold pendant lights or artistic chandeliers, designers can create focal points that draw the eye and enhance the overall decor narrative.  Statement ## Lighting Design Statement lighting plays a pivotal role in the interior design of condos (or a condo re-fresh) , where space optimization and aesthetic impact are paramount. These subtle hues, such as taupe, warm greys, and soft browns, imbue interiors with an organic warmth, creating a serene environment that speaks to modern sensibilities. The addition of tactile elements like linen, wool, and unfinished wood further enhances this narrative, establishing a monochromatic palette that retains interest through contrasting materials and finishes. This approach not only elevates the aesthetic appeal but also caters to the functional and spatial requirements typical of condo living, fostering an atmosphere of tranquility and effortless elegance. ![image of neutral color palette in condo interior design in the bedroom](https://tiffanyhankendesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Neutral-color-palatte-in-condo-design.png) ![image of vintage chandelier making a statement in modern condo design](https://tiffanyhankendesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Vintage-piece-in-modern-design.png) Timeless ## Vintage Pieces Incorporating vintage pieces into interior design can dramatically elevate a space by introducing a sense of history and character that modern elements alone often cannot provide. These pieces often boast unique craftsmanship and materials that are seldom found in contemporary designs, offering rich textures and patinas that contrast and complement newer elements within a room. By blending old with new, designers create layered environments that feel lived-in and thoughtful, contributing to a timeless and dynamic interior atmosphere. Rugs, particularly those with intricate patterns or comforting fibers, serve as both visual anchors and tactile havens, promoting a sense of grounded comfort. Designated areas within a room, such as reading nooks or meditation corners, utilize both minimal and maximal elements to focus attention and provide a sense of purposeful intimacy. This synthesis of cozy techniques ensures a harmonious environment that feels lived-in and thoughtfully curated. ![Aurora Spa Interior commercial Design by Tiffany Hanken](https://tiffanyhankendesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Minimalism-in-interior-design-for-condos.png) Stretching ### The Budget There are a number of ways to stretch your budget if your objective is to keep the cost of your project manageable or to save for the statement peices and splurge areas of the home that can return big on your investment. #### Update Paint - Painting the ceilings a darker color than the walls just bya shade or two – makes the space feel more cozy. - Using warmer/darker colors as accents to create drama – use a dark color to paint the old brick to give a refresh. #### Update Flooring - Updating all flooring from dated tile, carpet or datedmaterial to LVP can be an instant refresh at a cost-effectiveprice. #### Kitchen - Replacing uppers cabinets, refacing low base cabinets,,paint, new hardware and updating back splash. #### Bathrooms - Replace vanity with pre-fab, fresh light fixtures and hardware, wallpaper a wall. #### Cost-effective material - Find discount stores, showrooms to get good deals on big quantity items.
