Dare to be different this Valentine’s day!

Not big on going out this Valentine’s Day? Why not make it a fun night in! If planned properly, a nice dinner at home can be equally as romantic – and less expensive! – than a night out on the town. All you need is a great dinner menu, some bubbly, candles and chocolate, and you’re in for a lovely Valentine’s Day. Here’s what I’m thinking of to make it a great holiday:

If you and your significant other are meat eaters, a rack of lamb or some crab legs are special dishes that would be great for this romantic holiday. This lamb chops with cippolini onions recipe looks great, and these crab legs look incredible. Both recipes are extremely simple and quick, too! Just pair them with some vegetables and wine and you’ve got yourself a proper meal.

Nothing says celebration quite like some bubbles! Champagne is a great go-to, but if you’re not into the sweetness, maybe try out a bottle of Prosecco, the sparkling wine from Italy. If you’re a fan of sweet drinks you can make a nice cocktail with prosecco, raspberries and raspberry flavored vodka, like the one below.

Candles are the icing on the cake when it comes to a romantic night in! They set the mood, provide nice ambient lighting and make the place smell great. Here are a couple fun and romantic candle arrangements:

If you ask me, these would be the perfect way to end a Valentine’s Day meal. Plus, they’d be a fun thing to make together!

Taking a bath is such a nice way to wind down the evening. All you need are some candles and, if you want to make it extra exciting, maybe even some rose pedals. Here are a couple great examples:

So what will you do: go out for Valentine’s Day or stay in? Do you have any ideas to add to the list to make a stay-at-home Valentine’s Day date better? I’d love to hear!
